Package Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrive Paro

Arrive in Paro by international flight, after traditional 'Swagat' (Welcome) our representative would assist you at airport & transfer to hotel for check in. Later do a city sightseeing tour including Wang Chu and Paro Chu at Chozom.

Day 02 - Paro

Today we start our full day tour of the valley of Paro, containing a wealth of attractions. In the morning we visit Ta Dzong. Once a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutan's National Museum in 1968. Afterwards, walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, which has a long and fascinating history.

Day 03 - Paro – Bumthang

After breakfast we leave for Bumthang (Distance 312 kms appx). After your long journey, arrive and check in to the hotel. Take the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 04 - Bumthang

Morning day excursion visit to Ogyen Choling Palace: It is a village in the Tang valley of Bumthang district and is located on a commanding spur at an elevation of 3000m, on the east side of the Tang Chu. Visitors have to cross the Tangchu suspension bridge near Kizom and climb up to the village on foot. The trek takes about 45 minutes. Kizom is approximately 33 km from Jakar. The palace has been converted to a museum these days. (Gentle steep hike). Visit Mebar Tsho (Lake of Burning Fire): This is a sacred lake for the Bhutanese who believe that Pema Lingpa discovered religious treasures from this lake in the 12th century.

Day 05 - Bumthang - Trongsa

After breakfast we leave for Trongsa (Distance 79 kms appx ). On arrival check into your hotel. Later visit, Trongsa Dzong: It was built by Chhogyel Mingyur Tempa (sent by Zhabdrung to unify Eastern Bhutan to bring under the rule of the Desi) in the year 1644. The Dzong dominates the horizon, dwarfing the surrounding buildings. Both the first and the second King ruled the country from this Dzong.

Day 06 - Trongsa

Today we visit  the Trongsa Museum (Ta Dzong Museum). Situated strategically above the Trongsa Dzong, the Ta Dzong served as a watch tower for centuries. It was built by Choeje Minjur Tempa in 1652. The museum is equipped with state of the art technology and includes a media room where visitors can watch a documentary on the history of the monarchy. The Ta Dzong was renovated and converted as a museum at a cost of Nu.97 millions, with funds from the Austrian government. The museum is dedicated to coronation and centenary celebrations.

Day 07 - Trobgsa - Gangtey

After breakfast, we drive to Gangtey (Distance 77.9 kms appx). On arrival, check-in. Later after some rest visit the Gangtey Monastery. The Monastery's history traces to the early 17th century and back to the prophecies made by the well-known Terton (treasure finder) Pema Lingpa in the late 15th century. The Monastery is one of the main seats of the religious tradition based on Pema Lingpa's revelations and one of the two main centres of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism in the country. A Nyingma monastic college or shedra, Do-ngag Tösam Rabgayling, has been established above the village.

Day 09 - Gangtey

Early morning after breakfast, hike across Gangtey Nature Trail: (Duration: Half day: two hours at a quicker pace): This is one of the most beautiful and shortest of the existing nature trail. In this trail you have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Goemba (Monastery), it also leads to a sloping area of green grass, flanked by pine trees on either side. You will even come across some villages, rivers, and crane roosting ground. Later visit the Black Necked Crane Observation Center

Day 10 - Gangtey - Punakha

Today we drive to Punakha (Distance 74.0 kms appx). On arrival, check-in to the hotel. Later visit Chimi L'hakhang Temple which is a Buddhist monastery in Punakha District. In founding the site it is said that Lama Kunley subdued a demon of Dochu La with his “magic thunderbolt of wisdom” and trapped it in a rock at the location close to where the chorten now stands

Day 11 - Punakha

After breakfast, we visit Punakha Dzong, it is the second oldest and second largest Dzong in Bhutan and one of its most majestic structures. The Dzong houses the sacred relics of the southern Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, including the Rangjung Kasarpani and the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal and the terton Pema Lingpa. Punakha Dzong was the administrative centre and the seat of the Government of Bhutan until 1955, when the capital was moved to Thimphu. It is listed as a tentative site in Bhutan's Tentative List for UNESCO inclusion.

Day 12 - Punakha - Thimpu

After breakfast today drive to Thimpu (Distance 85.2 kms appx). On arrival check into the hotel. After some rest, take a hike to Cheri Monastery (Includes Dodina and Jigme Dorji Wild Life Sanctuary): Hike about 1hr (to and fro) to Cheri Goemba (Cheri Dorji Dhen). Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal built this monastery in 1620 and established the first monk body here. Here you have a chance to spot birds such as Mrs Gould’s Sunbird, Yellow-browed Tit, Yellow-rumped Honey guide, Long-billed Thrush, Ultramarine Flycatcher, etc.

Day 13 - Thimpu

Morning city tour of Thimpu. Walk around the vibrant and colorful market where local Bhutanese are seen carrying on their daily routines dressed in traditional costumes. Visit King Wangchuk's Memorial, Taschichho Dzong, Bhutanese Handicraft Centers and amazing Thimpu valley.

Day 14 - Thimpu - Paro

After breakfast today, drive back to Paro international airport (Distance 50.5 kms appx) for your departure to your onward journey.
